Product Description

ERCuNi Welding Wire – Exceptional Seawater Corrosion Resistance & High Thermal Conductivity

Description

ERCuNi welding wire is a copper-nickel alloy filler metal engineered for superior performance in marine, chemical, and thermal processing applications. Composed of 66–70% copper, 28–32% nickel, and controlled iron (1–2%) and manganese (≤1.5%) content, this alloy offers unmatched resistance to seawater erosion, biofouling, and sulfuric acid corrosion. Its low carbon content (≤0.05%) and stabilized microstructure minimize intergranular attack, ensuring long-term durability in temperatures ranging from cryogenic (-50°C) to elevated (400°C) environments.

Certified to AWS A5.6 and ASME SFA-5.6 standards, ERCuNi wire is optimized for welding copper-nickel alloys (e.g., UNS C70600, C71500) and dissimilar joints between copper alloys and stainless steel or carbon steel. With a tensile strength of 350–450 MPa and elongation ≥30%, it is ideal for seawater cooling systems, desalination plants, and offshore oil rigs. The alloy’s high thermal conductivity (29 W/m·K) and low electrical resistivity (25 µΩ·cm) ensure efficient heat dissipation and conductivity in power generation and marine applications.

Technical Specifications (Table)

Applications

  1. Marine Engineering: Seawater piping, ship hulls, and offshore platform heat exchangers.

  2. Chemical Processing: Sulfuric acid storage tanks, phosphoric acid reactors, and condenser tubes.

  3. Power Generation: Feedwater heaters, turbine blades, and geothermal cooling systems.

  4. Desalination Plants: Evaporator tubes and brine preheaters in high-salinity environments.

  5. Oil & Gas: Subsea pipelines, LNG liquefaction systems, and refinery heat recovery units.

Q&A

Q1: Can ERCuNi wire resist biofouling in seawater applications?
A: Yes. Its copper-nickel composition naturally inhibits marine growth, reducing maintenance costs in offshore systems.

Q2: Is ERCuNi suitable for welding copper-nickel to stainless steel?
A: Absolutely. The alloy’s balanced composition minimizes galvanic corrosion risks in dissimilar metal joints.

Q3: Does ERCuNi comply with NORSOK M-601 for offshore applications?
A: Yes. ERCuNi meets NORSOK standards for welding in harsh subsea environments.
